Time to Clean. Repair & Maintain Your Home's Appliances

Spring is Here - Time for Cleaning and Maintaining Your Home Applainces

People often forget about cleaning appliances like the back of the refrigerator, furnace, air conditioner and clothes dryer. Most of these (except the a/c) appliances have been working overtime all winter long, collecting dust and dirt in the cooling coils, ducts and vents. If it has been a while since you last cleaned them, with spring approaching, now might be a great time.

What components of my home appliances get dirty you ask?

Here is a list of a few places you might want to clean and inspect:
  • Refrigerator - Slide it away from the wall and clean the back of the coil. Also clean the drip tube located in the bottom of your fridge.
  • Furnace - Replace the filter and have a furnace cleaning company or an air duct cleaning service provider come out and do a thorough cleaning of the burners. Have them check the chimney and heat exchanger while they are out.
  • A/C - Sorry, this is best left to the pros. You can clean the leaves and junk from the outdoor condensor though. This will definitley help, but more importantly is to have the a-coil cleaned. This is inside your plenum which is above your furnace.
  • Air Vents - Also known as duct cleaning, this process will remove any of the pllutants which have collected over the winter; allergens (was anyone in your home sick?), dust, mold and anything else that might have been drawn into your heating and cooling system.

These are just a few cleaning tips to get you started.

- Happy Cleaning :-)
